Literacy Week

Students of all grades took a deep dive into literacy with an array of events during MSB’s annual Literacy Week.

Organized by the English Department, Literacy Week is designed to foster a lifelong interest in literacy and make reading part of our families’ daily routines. Students were encouraged to talk to guest authors, shine at Spelling Bee, share their favorite characters and participate in storytelling sessions with peers and staff.

In tune with Literacy Week, PA organized a Charity Book Fair at the elementary building lobby where parents and students were invited to donate and buy books. Thanks to our joint efforts, we have raised a total of 45,501 yuan. In collaboration with Roundabout, a fundraising store run by volunteers, all the proceeds will be donated to a seriously ill child named Yan Yan.

The eventful week culminated with a Grade 1-9 favorite book character parade on Friday. Parents were invited to watch their children dressed as their favorite book characters and joined the assembly. The English Department pulled off a rendition of Strega Nona, a folktale by Tomie dePaola.
