Buying or donating a book makes a difference in the lives of children in need.
Joining hands with the charity store Roundabout, the Parents’ Association of MSB hosted its annual Charity Book Sale at Riviera Country Club this week. The three-day book fair saw thousands of recently donated books in English, Chinese, German, and French up for sale. All the proceeds will be used to support children in need of medical support.
“Although we can’t hold the event at school due to the Covid this year, a public space allowed more people to gather here and our students will have a sense of charity from an early age when buying a book,” said PA president Chen Chen.
“The books are of good quality. They were donated by the nearby international community,” Chen said.
In 2019, over 2,000 books were collected from MSB families and the book fair raised a total of RMB 11,768, which was used to support the chemotherapy treatment of Xiao Shibo, a six-year-old boy struggling with malignant neuroblastoma.
MSB’s PA is a diverse and dynamic group of parent volunteers who are the key communication bridge between the school and parents. It has always been active in the charity cause with annual events like bake sales and clothes sales.
PA donated RMB 9,960 to the Beijing Tongxin School, a school for migrant workers’ children, after a successful bake sale in 2019.
Thank you for helping those children in need!
