 MSB was established in 1990 by Caroline Chen Gaillard in a schoolroom with 10 students at the Norwegian Embassy, and soon relocated to a spacious building in the Sanlitun district of Beijing to accommodate growing enrolment. As the demographics of Beijing’s international community changed and many families began moving to the suburbs, we built small, “neighbourhood” schools at Beijing Riviera and River Garden Villas to be nearer to our students. We briefly joined the Dulwich College family of schools in 2004, and returned once again to full independence as Beijing’s first and finest Montessori programme in 2006.
The academic year 2006-2007 was a time of new beginnings for MSB. We opened a new kindergarten at River Garden for children age two to five with spacious and sunny classrooms and a 1,000 square meter garden playground. In August 2007 we opened a new 3,500 square meter pre-school and elementary campus on Cherry Tree Lane in the Quanfa Gardens-Beijing Riviera area, complete with a 20 meter wide indoor children's swimming pool. We also introduced a beautiful new kindergarten in Champagne Cove. Moreover, we have enriched our language programme to provide parents extra choice in Chinese and English language instruction for their children. |
