The Springboard to Elementary for Five Year Olds
In the Reception Class, the children build on the foundation established in Kindergarten and hone the basic skills required for the elementary programme. By the end of the school year, a typical Reception student will be keeping a journal, have started cursive writing, be reading phonetically, and have been introduced to non-phonetic reading materials. In maths, he or she will be working with three or in some cases all four operations in the decimal system up to the 1000s with materials. All this is done in small, intimate, friendly classroom environments where the children feel welcome and secure, and humour and laughter are always on the menu. |
