The International Montessori School of Beijing has an open admissions policy.  Children of all nationalities, races and religions may seek admission to the school, however Chinese government regulations do not permit enrolment of Chinese nationals in international schools.

ADMISSION PRIORITY

The International Montessori School of Beijing will give priority in admission to returning students, siblings of students or graduates, applicants for full day classes, applicants who have previously been enrolled in a Montessori programme, and those on the previous year’s waiting list.  River Garden and Champagne Cove residents will have priority for admission at their respective campuses.

APPLICATION FEE

A non-refundable and non-transferable application fee of RMB ¥1,600 must accompany each application. An application will not receive consideration until this application fee is received. All returning students’ application fees will be credited against school fees.

ACCEPTANCES

After receipt of application and application fee, the applicant will receive a written confirmation of the status of his/her application. Applicants accepted for admission will receive an invoice accompanying the acceptance letter. If payment is not made by the date specified in the invoice, the applicant’s place will be forfeited and may be given to another applicant. No child will be allowed to attend class until his/her school fees have been paid. 

PROBATIONARY REVIEW

All students are subject to a probationary period lasting 30 attended school days. During this period the school reserves the right to withdraw a child’s acceptance in the event that MSB does not have adequate resources to satisfy the child’s needs. This may include, but is not limited to, necessity for additional psychological evaluation, advanced EAL services, individualised curriculum, a dedicated teacher or shadow, etc. In the event that the school is unable to meet the needs of the child a full refund, minus the first month of tuition, will be given.

 

CLASSROOM ASSIGNMENTS

Class assignments will be made at the recommendation of the admissions team in the best interest of the child. Parents may make requests in writing, but assignments will be made at the discretion of the school. Class assignments will be made available at the Open House held the day before the start of school.

KINDERGARTEN REQUIREMENTS

All applicants for Kindergarten classes must be potty trained prior to the beginning of the school year. The school offers morning and full day places in the Kindergarten classes. Full Day Kindergarten classes are comprised of a mix of full and half-day students.

LEARNING SUPPORT

During the admission process, students with learning difficulties are evaluated on an individual basis to determine if the school can provide for their needs. MSB requires applicants with previously identified learning needs to provide past school records, evaluations and accurate information of multi-disciplinary services in use. Whilst MSB believes wholeheartedly in supporting children with developmental challenges, the school cannot provide comprehensive special education services and is not able to admit students with severe learning, language or behavioural needs. For those students who are admitted with learning support needs, a fee will be levied to cover all additional manpower costs.

SCHOOL BUS SERVICE

The school provides school bus service to transport students to and from school. Bus routes service families in most areas of Beijing, although we cannot guarantee that all locations in the city can be serviced. A school bus monitor supervises the children’s safety during their journey. School bus application forms are available at all school offices. Completed forms must be submitted to the school office prior to commencement of service. Telephone requests will not be accepted.

SCHOOL HOURS

The school operates Monday through Friday according to the following schedule:

Toddler Class	8:30am to 11:15am
Half Day Nursery	8:30am to 11:30am
Half Day Kindergarten	8:30am to 11:45am
Full Day Classes	8:30am to 3:30pm
