Admissions Requirements

MSB has an open admissions policy—children of all ethnicities and religions may apply. However, due to Chinese government regulations, we are unable to accept Chinese nationals into our school.

 

Students from Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan
As per the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, all applicants from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, (and at least one of the applicant’s parents), must possess a passport or permanent resident card from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan or a country other than China. In addition, both parents must have a valid travel permit for mainland China, and at least one parent must have a valid work certificate issued in Beijing.

 

Kindergarten Applicants
All Kindergarten applicants must be toilet trained prior to their first day of school.



Admissions Process

Application

An application will not be considered complete until all required documents and the non-refundable/ non-transferable application fee of ¥2,500 are received. Once complete, the applicant will receive a written confirmation of his/her application status.

Admissions Priority

MSB will give admissions priority to returning students, sibling groups, siblings of current students or graduates, applicants for full-day classes, applicants who have previously been enrolled in a Montessori programme, and those on the previous year’s waiting list.  

Acceptance

Applicants will receive written notification of their acceptance. Parents must submit written confirmation of enrolment within 10 working days of the official offer of admissions together with the Placement Deposit. MSB reserves the right to offer a student’s place to another applicant if the Placement Deposit is not received by the date indicated on the invoice. The Placement Deposit will not be refunded to new students who have not yet paid the tuition fee and subsequently decide not to attend MSB as scheduled. 

Placement Deposit

MSB requires a ¥20,000 Placement Deposit per child. This is a one-time, non-interest bearing security deposit, held by the school for the entire duration of the student's enrolment. It is required to secure an applicant's place at MSB.

Once a student leaves MSB, the Placement Deposit will be refunded in accordance with MSB's Withdrawal and Refund policy, following the deduction of any amount owed to the school. This includes any outstanding tuition, lunch and bus fees, as well as any unreturned school materials. 

In accordance with government regulations, MSB cannot issue an official fapiao because the Placement Deposit is a refundable payment. The school will issue a Placement Deposit receipt, which must be returned before a refund can be issued. This is to ensure that the Placement Deposit is returned to the proper party. 


How to Apply

Step 1
To fill out our online application form, click on the Apply Now button. 



Step 2

Follow the directions in the email from our Admissions Director prompting you to submit all of the following:

  • One copy of your child’s passport
  • Copies of both parents/guardians’ passports, plus work visas, residence dependent visa or Chinese ID card where applicable
  • All school reports where applicable
  • One recommendation letter from your child’s current teacher
  • Signed School Policy Form
  • Any documentation pertaining to additional learning support your child has received
  • RMB2,500 application fee 

Step 3

Upon receipt of all of the above, our Admissions Director will contact you to arrange an interview. (Should you live abroad, an additional teacher recommendation letter may be submitted in lieu of an interview.)
